If you think all soldiers are emotionless and tough, you are definitely wrong. While we sleep comfortably through the night, soldiers in different parts of the country go on different missions and risk their lives and comfort. They wouldn’t mind getting hit by a bullet, stabbed by a knife and be covered in dirt because it’s their job to serve and protect the citizens.

Cpl. Joven Capitan, a 31-year-old soldier, was a member of 4SRC assigned in Tandag, Surigao Del Sur in the past. February 02, 2013, during their operation in Sitio Kadlum,Brgy. Tandag, Surigao Del Sur, he was shot by members of the NPA in the stomach, intestines and also his hands. He soon underwent an operation in Tandag and went home to his family Digos City, Davao Del Sur. In Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City, he again underwent four operations but because of the severe damage in his intestines, he was then brought to V. Luna Hospital. On June 18, 2014 doctors saw that he needed to go through another operation. Cpl. Capitan only has two feet of unaffected intestines now, and normal people should have seven feet of healthy intestine in order to survive.
